Id rather have one of those pedal bikes fitted with a weedwacker motor
I've considered it too, but I think I'd have to use electric over gas. I've got a 29in MTB that I bought several years ago and don't ride. I've considered buying a kit and converting it. One of my hesitations is that I don't want to be stuck with only a bicycle that has motor, if I want to pedal bike I don't want to be dealing with the added weight and losses of the motor as well. That sucks it got stolen. Ive thought about building one.
Though about buying a new pedal bike, I understand that WM has a very nice MTB with good upgrade paths available for a good price. If I bought one I'd be a little more willing to convert the old one, but that is money I could spend towards other projects. Also my local WMs tend not to have the good stuff in stock so difficult to see in person. Rather buy online for delivery and assemble myself, but still like to check it out in person.
