Tried to flip and play with the cast logs. One is ideal. If you take driver side downward dumping and move to passenger, it dumps perfectly in front of the mount but immediately behind the FEAD bracket. Piped down and towards the driver side its great.
The issue is the passenger to driver move, worth less. The steering box is smack in the way. If I could move the steering box to the far side of fram rail, it woudl be stellar...

Flipping driver simply upside down WORKS, but a sparkplug boot WILL DIE for sure and the header touches with significant interference the entire length of the head. Unless I cut away material...... and I cant, they arent thick enough walled...... so thats out.

The steering box is pissing me off. Else Id have a solution and it would be great.

Has anyone seen a steering box moved? Changed?

The steering shaft from firewall toes toward the engine (not straight), if a box was on other side of frame rail, it would have to climb over the frame rail to meet the box..... or so it seems.

Anyone put a pinto front end on a ranger??? Down the rabbit hole I descend.......... save a buck on a turbo with cast iron headers, invest $30k in a front end.......

I thought maybe Id buy some stubbed flanges, the headers wont look real pretty but I do pie cuts pretty well and might be able to make a pair with just some (about 50) pie cuts cut from a good length of pipe. More time than budget....

Or move the steering box.....whichever is cheaper, more expedient, frees up more space.

That is my steering outside the rail. It's a Ford box....

but

You can use a dodge 4x4 bracket and 2wd gm truck box with modified jeep steering shaft...trim to fit that is.....

That is the engine type that is in my truck next to a 350....which is bigger then a 302.....everything is bigger then a 302.

302 is tiny.....teeny tiny compared to a cammer.

You got this shit mang. Start welding and breaking stuff.

What about adding a 1/2 or 3/4 inch plate mild steel header flange as a spacer to the existing headers??
Two exhaust gaskets per side.

That will push the upside down headers both equally and clear both spark plugs and also head/valve cover interference.

Still need two driver side manifolds, pass down firing and driver up firing.

Not my idea, another post somewhere on a gt40p clearance help for headers but…… wish I could take credit.

That might work??? (Not fitment but reliability wise??)

3/8 or or 1/2 in flanges are a go to for many situations.

Regular mustang gt headers upside down can work. The drake straight backs are practically mirror and upside down should be a zero issue with plugs.

The turbo headers have the top flange and plugs should be a non issue. .but I seen the flanges sectioned too...

With just a center alternator up top .. should not be too bad.

Shorty plugs and 90 deg boots
