After unloading all my stuff and partially disassembling my 1967 El Camino they were nice enough to loan me a screw driver to try and put it back together
They unload and disassemble but don't reassemble or reload vehicles, lol

El Caminos have a "smugglers" compartment under the front of the bed with access hatches behind the seat, knew it was there but had never opened it up, was pretty clean in there, lol

No guns - noted. Wasn't planning on that but it crossed my mind to look into bringing one for bears since we are tent camping, decided against it.

I was warned about the DUI thing, I don't have any, GTG there. The person who warned me said he had one from years ago and they wouldn't let him in until he paid $500.

When I immigrated I also had to pay $500us, because of a DUI when I was 21, only thing on my FBI report, I immigrated when I was 38, so 17 years before
Also had to write a letter explaining how I was now reformed from my past criminal ways, and they believed me
The DUI was actually a "care and control" as I was pulled off the road and sleeping, but drunk, and had the keys in my pocket, $65 fine

I have been to Canada twice, once in 1997 and did not need a passport. Crossed over in the Detroit area. Second time was in 2017 at Niagra falls, used my passport card (cannot be used on an airplane, just in foot, car, or some cruise ships) both times I was asked the standard questions of why I was visiting, if I had any weapons etc. Did not have to fill out any paper work prior to going.

Now everything is all changed since covid, so who knows.

I went in 72, I was 17. Went with my folks in a little Kharman Ghia convertable, pulled a trailer and had my little Honda on it. They went to a lodge near Penticton BC and I rode over the mountains to Vancouver. It was a cool trip and I had none of the experiences yall are speaking of, in spite of having a small motorbike in BC, with Texas tags.

Yes, you can buy weed/cannabis in dedicated stores(that's all they sell) pretty much anywhere in Canada now

Beer, wine and spirits are also only sold in dedicated stores(that's all they sell)

Either's use is usually restricted in Public areas, i.e. shouldn't walk down the street smokin' a joint or drinking a beer, or in a Park, although we are getting some movement on the Park thing, certain areas in Parks are being designated as "OK to drink alcohol"
And certainly a no-no when driving for either, lol

Yes, no "runnin' the border" with weed, in either direction
As a visitor you are allowed to bring into Canada 24 cans of beer or 1 bottle of wine or 1 bottle of spirits per person, and if you drink DO IT, you won't believe how expensive booze is here
