Transmission Swap

Hi I am in the process of swapping in a 4.0L and more importantly a M50D from a 92 Ranger, I am more concerned about

1.Will my master cylinder work with the M50D

2. will the slave cylinder have the same fasteners/couplers as my FM145

3.How much longer is the M50D&BW13-54 than what I have now

Has anyone swapped this drive chain before if so is there a detailed thread about the swap ??

P.S. I have a 1987 Bronco II if I forgot to mention

1) Master, yes, line no.

2) No. Go buy a master/slave kit for a 91 anything RBV.

3) About 2 inches, get the drive shaft from an auto trans unit.

A single detailed thread? Maybe, but I don't know where it is.

The 4.0 bolts in. My build thread has some info, but I didn't get too detailed. Most of the work there is wiring. It's easier if you have a 90-92 donor.

Thanks again man sorry not so hot on the lingo, what did you mean by "anything RBV"

I still have the front drive shaft from the donor will that work ?

Oh and the link you posted had to do with water marks is it possible to post the one about the swap

RBV is a Ranger Based Vehicle, so the Ranger, Bronco II, Explorer, and after 1995 the Mazda B-series.

You will need to front drive shaft, but you also need a different rear drive shaft, or you need to get your existing one shortened a bit. If you don't have a good machine and driveline shop in your area then your next best bet is to go to the local wrecking yards and try to find the rear drive shaft from an 86 to 90 Bronco II with an auto, or an 88+ with a manual. Those will all have the longer transmission that matches the length you need.

already have a heavy duty custom built that got put in when I put in the 6 inch BDS lift the original was way overextended I can take it to the machine shop though i it needs adjusting again
