Maybe you should buy one and find out... careful though once you own one you have an uncontrollable urge to buy more.

(actually I think that applies to almost any gun)

I have shot plenty of 7.62x54r its a fun round, and I get the nostalgia of an old soviet battle rifle, wrestling with the stiff corroded bolt assembly caked in cosmoline, big flash and plume of cheap surplus powder, for the price you can't go wrong. I would agree guns are addicting (very) but I still dont see the draw in owning several old Mosins other than if your a collector that is.

Quite odd seeing yugo sks rifles being bubba'd, when here they're worth the most of the big 3(russian, chinese, & yugo)
Everything I see is reversible though, that's cool.

Good looking enfields

They are collectable and cheap.

I have a '43 Izzy, I wouldn't mind finding an earlier hex Tula, but then a hex Izzy would be neat too, a wartime Tula to go with my wartime Izzy would be cool as well, and then a Finn would be the icing on the cake, heck a sniper would be neat too, and then you get into all the variations of snipers too... it is a viscous cycle.

There really isn't much point of owning more than one type of a gun unless you are collecting them.

There are 4 doors and 5 windows in my apartment, that's reason to own 9 identical guns. Just sayin.

for the record none of my 'home defense' guns are mosins, 7.62x54r is too powerful of a round (wife in the next room, neighbors, etc...) and way too long of a gun for any kind of cqc.

Or one kept close at hand...

My Mosin is going to be one of my "Home Defense" weapons at my new house, it will defend it from maurading coyotes :D

I'm a big fan of having one close at hand and i actually tend to carry at home. i also have no problem keeping a loaded firearm on the end table or the bedside table, etc... My wife on the other hand thinks it's silly to carry and doesn't like them sitting out in the open. All of our 'home defense' guns are identical, kept in the same condition, and hidden from anyone but the two of us. she can get to any of them in no time at all and doesn't have to think about what to do when she gets there.
