What size material did you make the new hangers from? I'm digging this build so far!

3.5" x 3.5" x 1/4" tube cut as needed. That makes it 3" on the inside which fits the spring eyes and shackle perfect. I also went to 9/16" bolts which is about 0.010" over the 14 mm stock bolts. Ran a 9/16" drill bit through the bushing tubes and presto.

Update 3/22/12

Update 3/22/12

Dad's gotten the doubler started. He has the new case apart, cut, and ready to be put back together this weekend.

The inside:

Very bad pic I know, :BangHead: I will get a better one. But the plugs got welded in today.

Update 3/24/12

Update 3/24/12

Today we were working on the doubler and rear axle.

We got the rear all put together, shafts in, brakes and outers on, gears in, springs hung, all that's left to do is figure out the angle of the drive line and we can weld the spring pads onto the housing.

Dad had a good idea of putting some supports where the spring hangers go, so they have no way of folding the frame up.

Also got the tansfer case out and got one of the adapter plates put on.
Looks like some sort of snake, alien thing starin' atcha don't it? :shok::thefinger:

That bed bob is badass! What are your plans for the fuel tank? I am assuming you are going to do a fuel cell. How far forward did you move the rear axle?

Yes, fuel cell. May try to incorporate the stock pump/ sender into it. The rear is moved 14" forward.

Put some blue locktite on those countersunk adapter plate bolts as they have tendency to vibrate loose. Great job on the entire build.
