Just a reminder......

DEARBORN, Mich., May 10, 2021 – Ford’s smartest, most innovative truck yet will be all-electric and called F-150 Lightning. The all-new F-150 Lightning will be revealed May 19 at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn and livestreamed for millions to watch.

The F-150 Lightning brings stunning innovation, technologies and capabilities to the F-Series, America’s best-selling vehicle, combined with the power, payload and towing capability that is the hallmark of all Built Ford Tough trucks.

The reveal takes place at 9:30 p.m. EDT, May 19, from Ford World Headquarters and will be broadcast live with 30+ ways to watch across physical and digital destinations, including the Ford Facebook and YouTube channels, Twitter, key national publications as well as 18 impactful out-of-home locations such as Times Square in New York City and Las Vegas Boulevard.

“Every so often, a new vehicle comes along that disrupts the status quo and changes the game … Model T, Mustang, Prius, Model 3. Now comes the F-150 Lightning,” said Ford President and CEO Jim Farley. “America’s favorite vehicle for nearly half a century is going digital and fully electric. F-150 Lightning can power your home during an outage; it’s even quicker than the original F-150 Lightning performance truck; and it will constantly improve through over-the-air updates.”

Added Farley: “The truck of the future will be built with quality and a commitment to sustainability by Ford-UAW workers at the Ford Rouge Complex -- the cathedral of American manufacturing and our most advanced plant.”

Production of the F-150 Lightning begins next spring at the all-new Ford Rouge Electric Vehicle Center.

Some possible specs

Ford is saying the F-150 Lightning can power your home during an outage.
I'd guess this will be using the same tech as current f150 or the upcoming e-transit with Pro Power Onboard which provides up to 2.4 kilowatts of power

Should have more horse and torque than any existing F150 which means
450+ horsepower
0-60 under 5 secs (someone said 0-60 in 4.4 secs)

Dual motor
112KW hour capacity in 1800lbs battery. Mach-E biggest battery is 88kw good for about 300 miles range.

I'm gonna guess 375 range for the new electric F150. 400 seems pretty tough unless they managed some further efficiency compared to Mach-E energy usage.

112kw might be tough to re-charge fully on a Level 2 home charger overnight. I'm predicting 6-8 hour charge depending upon how full battery is.

"It's even quicker than the original!"

I'd damn well hope that a brand new truck would be quicker than one 30 years old lol.

If it is all electric it will just be a big battery to run your house, it won't "power" your house like the gas over electric PowerBoost F-150's will.

With my luck the power would go out right after I plugged it in so it would be a big paperweight all around.

Hey, that thing worked really hard to put out 240hp!

No no no that's not how it works. In the event of a power outage you plug your house into the truck, then plug the truck into the neighbors house which is being powered by a generator.

112kw is not a small battery at all. depending on what you're trying to power, this could easily last multiple days.

BigNameHomeBatteryMaker charges 15k for 14kw battery pack so that 112kw truck battery is like $120,000 worth of home battery.

I could make this last 4 days with no changes to my habits

So what you are saying is people will be stealing batteries out of these things like they steel cats out of gas power trucks?

Nice. :fie:

Yea but unlike stealing cats If you tried to remove a 112kw battery with a sawzall you'd probably be converted into a very small pile of carbon...

Doing things wrong, until I get it right.
Man growing up the smell of racing fields and burning rubber at the drag strip is what stand out to me. One of the reasons I'm a car guy now. Still gets my excitement up when I go to a nascar race or NHRA event. So YES YES engines should go vroom and big ones should shake the ground on their way by. Just my opinion
Racing fuels replaced with batteries, the smell of burning rubber replaced with the smell of circuit chips operating at max capacity and the sound of tires squealing down the 1/4mile replaced with the "whiiiirrrr" of an electric motor whispering away in the distance.

Why exactly would you not hear the tires squealing anymore? Do electric cars not have tires? :dunno:

Hub motors so basically every car could be AWD with no powertrain power loss.
