T-case rubber washer on shaft

I'm replacing the rear output shaft seal on the transfer case. I'm putting everything back together but I can't remember how that small rubber washer goes on the shaft. Does it go on before I put the flange back on, or after?

It goes....
Flange, seal (rubber washer), nut.


It seals the threads.

I take it you found a 30mm socket? And yes, just as Snoranger said.

That's what I thought, thank you. Now if only I could find that damn metal washer. I've been looking for it for literally over 10 minutes now! Friggin hate what that happens!

Yep, got the socket. I found it doesn't have to be a thin wall socket though. An impact socket worked fine.
