I swapped in an FFD Dynamics Efan kit, heres what happened:

I started the truck and let the engine warm up slightly past halfway, then adjusted the temp control to kick on the fan.
After a few mins, the temp gauge dropped, but the fan stayed on until I shut off the engine. I let the engine cool and started again.
This time the fan came on soon as turned the ignition. This was using the radiator probe. I switched to the radiator probe, and it did the same thing (off until warm, but then stays on after temp gauge drops).

I went back and cleaned the radiator probe and relocated it, which helped, it kept it the fans from kicking on right at ignition, but then wouldn't turn off again once it kicked in.

I tried messing with the adjustment screw to test the fan on/off. Sometimes it would cycle the fan, other times it did nothing.

At moment the fans kick on at ignition with engine and probe fully cold.

So far here's all I could come up with for possible problems, in order of possibility most to least:

-Defective control module (which I may have mangled despite being gentle on the adjusting screw and installation)
-defective probe(s)
-Impatient (I did all this based on my temp gauge at idle parked, not wanting to risk a road test)
-bad ground(s)?! (I used that lil factory ground point next to radiator near battery)

What do u guys think?

Well, the probe.
They recommended cram it as close to inlet cap as possible, which is what I did. But at the moment its resting on the finder on a shop rag. Fan still kicks on upon ignition.

My buddy suggested it may be a stuck relay...Im gonna try throwing a meter on it...The probes and adjustment screw does nothing at the moment...I switched to the screw in probe and let dangle in cold coolant...still kicked right on

I may throw a manual switch to the ignition source wire for now.

hm. Possible. I spliced a Ford oem one on mine when the Chinese one failed after a few days.

BTW, probe goes on the outlet to block. Had to buy a second set of coolant hoses over that....

Im on my way to borrow a meter, the red probe snapped off my harbor freight special....

You mean the upper hose area? I stuck it in the fins near the cap 🤦‍♂️. I need a random size 8x.75 tap if I wanna try the screw in water probe, trying to make do with the radiator poker, for now ...My buddy went to fetch is meter and some liquor...that should help.

Can you recommend, or is there even in existence, a decent thermostat/controller complete kit? The painless wiring kit is the most expensive one I can find, and a million more from cheap to spendy...I dont wanna mess around when it comes to the fan, and at this point will dump cash to fix this for good, unless I dont have to.

I ask because now that you mention it, the relays/controller do look and feel cheap, I bought this damn kit to avoid having to piece one together, which I am doing anyways now....I was misled by the custom sheet metal shroud, sexy fan and thick wires....Might as well been a fat chick in a summer dress...I had a bad feeling too. I hate when my gut is right that its wrong.

I've never been big on the "jamb it through the radiator" cooling fan temp switches.

Search Amazon for GlowShift radiator hose adapter. Then find a cooling fan temp switch with the right ON and OFF temps. The only other thing you need is a relay.

I would also wire a manual switch to override the temp switch... just wire both the fan temp switch and your override circuit to the same control leg of your relay.

Yea I dont like them either, ordered a hose adapter....

I still have a problem of it aint doin shit, fan is always on regardless of probe....

I was gonna just run a switch that would interrupt the ignition source wire and kill the fan.

Make sure hose housing is the correct size...
that sensor might be the ticket...I dont necessarily need to adjust the temp if its preset anywhere within parameters...

I already have a hose adapter on order, I was gonna use it to run an aux temp gauge. but now it will be for the fan sensor

The adaptor I ordered is for the heater hose, will this work ok? or should I grab a radiator hose sized one too?

Dang @PetroleumJunkie412 … that hose adapter is a bit pricey.

I have bought several pieces from GlowShift… and their offerings have all been good quality stuff. I have no experience with the hose adapter... but from what I've received from them in the past... I would have no reason to question the quality of it.

As always... we all are wearing Milk-Bone under ware

Glo Shift seems legit....I'll try em out...

I checked the relays, they are china junk, but seem to work fine....

I really think the controller/temp adjuster is shot...Emailed the company through my ebay, we'll see....

I may go check my local parts stores for a whatever dick cheesy controller as a test unit...so sick of having to wait days for a part that may or may not solve the problem, and then having to send it back if it doesnt...
