i'm thinking of replacing my 3.5 duff coils with some skyjackers.

what compressed height do you guys get who are running the 4" or 6" skyjacker rbv springs-especially you guys who have a first or second gen v-6 standard cab ranger?(if you have a winch please say so as it takes away an inch!)

i get about 13.5" from mine and want to get into the 14.5" range with some more flex

If you have a heavy bumper then get the 6" coils. They will sit at 14.5 on an extended cab w/o winch

so i'm hearing on the explorer forum that the 6"ers only sag to 4.75 with a v-8 and heavy bumpers on 410fortune's b2

anyone out there willing to measure their 4 inch jackers height?

Maurice's Bronco II with the 6" coils, stock front bumper, and stock 2.9 only sagged about 1/2". Just a FYI.

My Skyjacker 6" coils measure around ~14.5" on a 95 ranger supercab 4.0. I know you were looking for measurements for the standard cab, but I thought I'd include mine for reference.

critter-those are well broken in springs right?(wheeling and jumping+age?)

splash and mkp-thanks guys it really shows how much heavier the gen 3's are.

using spacers on the 4" jackers to get a true 4" sounds the most likely, now if some guys with the 4" coils would pipe up.

thanks all!

rick, pretty much brand new.

I had a set that were well aged, and they sat at 14 3/4- 14 7/8.

are the skyjacker 4inch springs, the same spring, same wire dia etc, just not as many winding's, ...if so you could trim to your taste....

just a rambling thought.

Cutting coils is just a bad idea....If I recall correctly, all the skyjacker springs are in the ~450 lbs/inch area.

I used some info on coils from the tech library to figure out some info for my build awhile back...
Not sure if it will help, or how exact the numbers are, but atleast it gives you an idea...

Number of Active Coils = 11
Wire Diameter = 0.730"
Inside Coil Diameter = 3.54"
Outside Coil Diameter = 5.0"
3.54" I.D. + (0.730" W.D.)^2 = 5" O.D.
Average (Mean) Coil Diameter = 4.27"
Free length = 17"
Spring Rate = ~ 450 lb/In

btw, I cant remember what the exact measurement was at ride height when I had the 4" coils installed as they were only in for less than a week (sagged too much with the 4.0 supercab and had to order the 6" coils I have now). I'll take a stab at about 12-13".

The Superlift coils are around 450 PPI. The Skyjackers are around 375-400PPI.

Skyjacker's 4" ones are close to 450 as well, the 6" ones are around 410 or so.

FWIW, my 6" ones are 15" (reg cab 4.0 winch dual batts)

i got this in a pm from bent bolt-
My 4" Skyjacker springs are sitting at 14.5" with a winch on the front. Hope it helps.

Kevin
i searched the web and my coil thread was on the first page:icon_twisted:
and i found this on the net-
According to Skyjacker, the 6" lift springs for a RBV has the following specs:

Skyjacker #136:
- Free Length = 18-7/8"
- Upper & Lower Outside Diameter = 5"
- Spring Rate = 435#

thanks, how old are your coils 4x4j?it does seem to jibe with what 410 fortune posted.odd that critter is getting the same height even if his are new.

seems so

are you sure about your height measurement? or are the autofab beams wider than stock?(that or wider wheels would give more leverage on the coil).

EDIT:what is FWIW? or better yet a link to internet acronims
