I may have mentioned before I picked up some bucket seats for my 08. The seats were from a 2000. Both standard cap. So the 2000 seats will straight bolt into the cab without any problems.
However...
The 2000 has different seat pans. I managed to retrofit the 2008 passenger airbag pressure thingie into the 2000 seat pans, it's a deeper pan but a couple of drilled holes here and there and was able to install it. I've not yet checked to see if it actually works.
The 2008 driver side has electronics, though I've not yet attempted to investigate what they do if I'm able to figure it out at all. A seatbelt sensor seems obvious, but there is more wiring than necessary for that. I'm not sure I see the point of having a sensor for the airbag on the driver's side.
Anyone have any knowledge of what electronics may be there?
Also. The handle for reclining the seat is broken. This isn't urgent. I mean, I can just use visegrips to use the recline. Once in position, I wouldn't use it much and just how much can you store in a regular cab behind the seat anyway? (I'd much prefer to have something other than regular) I've been trying to source a replacement. What would be a good source for seat parts? Perhaps somewhere that has pictures versus crudely drawn diagrams. It didn't have a lumbar knob, but I found a 3D plan for it. If my 3D printer ever arrives, I can print a new one.
The 2000 seat covers use velcro, the 2008 is rings. I thought of using the 2000's seat covers on 2008 seats, perhaps bring the velcro over. They don't quite fit properly though. If it's what I have to do, it's what I have to do. So long as I can get the electronics figured out and the handle situation rectified I'll stick with the 2000 buckets.
I hope that babble makes sense.
