Ok, I am stumped on this one.

I just replaced the slave cylinder on my 2003 FX4 ranger. When I got it all back together it makes a rattling sound when I shift at lower RPMs (1500-2000) It almost sounds like a loose cat heat shield, but they are all tight. It makes the same sound on start-up, just when the truck first starts up. I am very certain that this is NOT a timing chain issue, as I listened with a stethoscope to both of them and they are making some noise, but nothing like this. Any ideas on what I should check next????

Thanks,
Anthony

Is it the catalytic converter itself rattling? I've seen them go bad and rattle like a heat shield. When the truck is cold, hit the exhaust in various spots with a rubber mallet or the side of your fist and see if that helps you track it down.
