My thoughtless plan is to get some 4x4 posts, and use them as rails to pull the truck along and up onto the trailer. the ppl I bought it from are willing to help, as in, "Use whatever you see laying around, whatever you need, to get it GONE!" So I may use the telephone pole to my advantage as well. The property is what looks like an old pasture that some one sectioned off, and sold as parcels. The good thing is, it's not too far off the road and a gate is nearby. (about 40 yards behind the explore), and there is "stuff" to use everywhere.

Did they say if the engine ran or was running before it got parked? Just seems like it was a parts vehicle from the beginning and now they are trying to get their money back.... I hope your right about it being what you need. Scrap is 3 cents a pound here so you figure. Google says they weight around 3600-4100 pounds (with a rear end of course) so at 3 cents a pound you would get $123 for the explorer that weighs 4100 pounds.... In your case it probably weight around 2800-3500 pounds so that would be a whopping $84-105 if you junked it and if scrap is 3 cents a pound... I don't live in Florida so I couldn't tell you what scrap is down there... Just some stuff to think about. Scrap aint what it used to be... and around here at .03 cents a pound it's not worth taking to the junk yard at all... So I would call around if you plan on junking the rest once you pull the engine/trans to get the most money out of it.

they bought it for the motor and trans. To swap into a v6 mustang, still has the mustang, but thought it was going to be a headache. At the very least, I can sell the doors for $30 each and get almost half my money back. and when it's all said and done, I will have a nice explorer frame for anybody here who wants to come and get it. lol

Right now, I'm trying to figure the PATS out. 2000 Expo into a 2001 Ranger Edge... @adsm08 , @RonD , @fastpakr , @snoranger ???? I know fastpakr has done a similar swap, and the rest of you are so freakin' smart, maybe y'all can tell me what I'm in for.

From what I understand either you move all the Explorer electrical to the Ranger to keep the PATS intact or you have a tuner neuter the PATS.

You have probably already seen this, but here it is anyway:

Mine was '99 to '99 so there were no issues with PATS version. I honestly don't know on a '00 to '01 swap. If they're the same then all you need is FORSCAN and a laptop with a good OBD2 dongle.

So back to PATS ... am i gonna need the dash guage cluster out of the Expo or can i keep the original cluster? Could i possibly get a cluster and computer from the jy to get it running. The dash is out of this one and i think the cluster is probably gone too. Unless its hidden amongst the stuff in the back.

Have you read through the swap threads on the tech section? As I recall one of them breaks down the version differences by year. I don't think you'll have that much to do honestly.

I have read them a while back, and i actually printed a few of the articles in the tech section. Was hoping someone had the quick answer. That's all, lol.
