New Spindles

im looking to buy some new spindles, i want some with more angle, but me being 17 young and dumb i dont know what ones will fit. its a 1996 Ranger 2wd 4cyl.

i would be grateful for any help. thanks

it might be a little far fetched but i want to make a bit of a "drift truck" i guess you could call it. ill probably put a 289 in it and turbo it. but i need spindles that will give me more angle..

That's easy, grind the steering stops down on the I beams. you'll have to run smaller tires though so you aren't rubbing everything. If you want it tighter than that, you'll have to learn to run a machine and make your own or pay somebody big bucks.

I have the same truck. It doesn't use spindles so you'll have to work with what you got or swap the entire suspension setup and modify it to fit. Some guys swap I'm mustang suspensions.

Yes, rangers have spindles.

Why not just redrill and taper a new set of holes, farther in on the steering arm, then grind the stops back.

More turn and quicker ratio, a drifters idea setup... Cheap too.

That with some drop I-beams, and a sprung-under Explorer axle. With V8 Explorer traction bars.

Learn to drive it with all the new power, can make some really nice sharp turns when that rear swings out.

You don't need more steer, you need to get some nice street tires, a Continental Contitrac or ContiProContact should do, and then learn to drive with the throttle.

Before I got grabbier tires and upped my trans gears I could drift my truck quite easily.

In one more extreme situation where I was making a (legal) U-turn on a highway I was able to keep the tires squealing for 180* and about 20 feet after I got in my lane.

You can drift a bone stock Ranger, you just need a manual trans to do it right. Get some speed, drop two gears, and dump the clutch while flooring it.

Sounds like you need a V6. Just the other day I was in second and simply punched the throttle and my Toyo open countries broke loose on dry pavement no problems. That's with the 3.27 rear end. Try a 4.0 swap and I'll bet you can drift away to your hearts content.

My old 4cyl would smoke the **** out of the tire. 3rd gear brakestands.

Once I even took an old pair of 31-10.50s, and finished them off in a parking lot.

You either have one wore out engine, or something is wrong with your truck.

stock ranger spindles aren't going to accomplish that, modifications will help, but he'll need fully custom..
