If you can find a rebuild kit that is probably your best bet to get a solenoid without a starter.

The easiest way to get on is to just get a starter.

try looking for a local guy who rebuilds starters and just have him rebuild the starter for you, you can usually save 50% or better over buying a new one (in my experience anyway)
