Still the same test mule as last time. I'm thinking it's a big fail from day #1

Welcome to the new and "improved" Ford.

It is rumored to be a powertrain test mule.

If it is it has IFS... unless they are not testing that part of the powertrain. o_O

Is front suspension part of the power train?

If it is 4wd... which as a Jeep competitor one would think the Bronco would be.

The whole thing is just weird, if they are just testing engines/transmissions why do the Ranger cab with a cut down bed? They could just throw it in a plain Ranger and nobody would know/care. If they have the powertrain and frame done but the body isn't done or they don't want spy photos of it yet so bugger fab a Ranger body to fit it to test out the running gear kinks, that makes sense.

If it is going solid front I don't see the point of making a stubby frame to test the wheelbase with a different suspension... unless they are being funny and trying to throw everyone off. Maybe something with testing rear driveline harmonics but that seems to be kind of a stretch too.

It is an odd looking thing. Kinda Sport Trac looking. Rear wheel arches are ridiculous

I bet they are testing driveshaft harmonics. Only reason i could see them needing something with the same wheelbase as a bronco. I assume anyways.

The top of the bed on a Ranger is about level with the bottom of the windows. On this truck it is a good 2" or better higher... which leads me to think the rear frame is different so the Ranger bed sits higher compared to everything else.

But wouldn't that change in a SUV vs a truck? Things that would be terrible in a SUV wouldn't be as bad in a truck with half the passenger area.

My guess is they are testing the more or less finished running gear and threw the body on so they had somewhere to sit.

2 solid axles and a 7speed manual....

Maybe ford might be onto something.

Now only if theyd drop in the 5.0...

Some of the last Raptor f150 of the current body style are getting the 5.0 treatment rated at 700hp.
