i refuse to take pills and nothing else seems to work
anyone have any tricks or anything that helps?
I have it on and off over the year. I work a rotating 12 hour shift, so it is part of the benefits that comes with that.
I had to make some adjustments as far as things like caffiene consumption goes. Now I never drink any caffinated drinks after noon and limit my coffee intake in the morning. I also try and go to bed by 10pm and get up at 6am every day off that I have. Sleeping in even one day can mess you up a bit.
Oh, and limiting alcohol consumption is a good idea too. Drinking a six pack before bed will not help you sleep despite what most others believe.
If I get particularily bad spells I use either Valerian Root capsules or tea or melatonin caplets. Both are readily available at any pharmacy. Just don't use them unless you need them.
I had the same problem for years. About 1 year ago I started exercising. I lift weights and run 5 days a week, now I am asleep by 9:30 every night. Just remember to start slow if you haven't done any activity in a while.
This is by far the best way to battle insomnia and it is also the easiest. If you go to one of those sleep clinics, 99% of the time this is the first recommendation on their list.
get laid, that always knocks me right out!
This is a close second to exercising. Just make sure that your wife/girfriend/mistress isn't one of those "I like to talk after sex," types!
