I don't hunt but sure glad someone does. We have 20-25K deer get hit on the road every year. Last years harvest was only 200K, two years before that it was 350K. Had three in the back yard yesterday morning, 100 ft away. This morning saw them crossing the road in front. You all go out, have fun but be safe!

Don't vote Democrat.
i can't wait... i got my savage 110 30-06 sights checked today, and cleaned up real good. lets get this started!

i don't archery hunt b/c the only time i did i saw 2 huge bucks about 200 yards out-- they wouldn't get any closer. i was mad, i was thinking the entire time- my savage will reach out that far NOOOOOO problem...
I'm taking my Savage .270 down soon to zero in the scope again. Probably wouldn't hurt to clean it too.

Hoping to drop at least a couple this year (rifle season starts weekend before Txgiving). I always donate the meat to the county food pantry, but might have some sausage or sticks made this year.

I have shot a deer every year since I was old enough to, and I will be in basic training this year so I get to miss the action

I just got a new string/cable and sight put on my bow, I need to get the silly thing sighted in. I don't hunt with it though, basically I don't have time to do that during harvest. Just target/3D shoot for fun.

1st season shotgun in early December and late doe in January (ML, pistol, rife .24+ and shotgun) is when I hunt. I don't always get something because it is hard to party hunt with only three guys. It is a thing you are kind of forced into with such short seasons though, but bigger groups get kinda scary. Used to be in one, got tired of hitting the dirt and crawling behind trees...

The 20ga Mossy is good to go, still playing with the scope on the 91/90 though (I got a new mount)

Only time crossbows are allowed to hunt with in Iowa is if you are disabled.

I sold my bow last year when my car broke down, looks like I better start saving for a new one! Plus I want to get a rifle. My Mossy is nice and all, but I can only shoot so far with the 12 gauge.
Put a rifled barrel and a red dot on the Mossy and youn can hit a pack of cigs @ 100 yds

that'll be worth it though, you'll get to shoot a lot cooler guns than just a run of the mill hunting rifle

Not deer but another favorite of many. Sitting here at the computer last Fall, happened to see these coming thru the front yard, 19 total. Really getting a lot of them also. Picture right from where I usually sit.

A smooth barrel with rifle sights will make it into a decent hunter, that is all I have.

Largest thing on my Island to hunt is coyote, and I better get at least one this year. Getting a fox will be easy.
There's deer on the mainland, but I'm going back to school this year, so I'm not sure I'm going to get the week off to go deer hunting.

1 Oct was the open date for early archery here. I have the 20 yd pin sited in already. My dad said it took my brother 3 days to get his sighted in.

Is anyone else as excited as me about hunting season this year. Probably not due to the fact that I have not been hunting in the better part of a DECADE! I bought a bow over the winter, Bear manufacturer, I cannot remember the model for the life of me but it was only a year old when I got it.

Things I need for it:

Drop Away Arrow Rest
4 Pin Optical Site
Quiver
Have it set to my draw length
Peep sight put in

:yahoo::headbang::icon_hornsup::D
Can't wait to get out. I picked up a new toy on Saturday.:D Diamond Outlaw.

This thing is a ****ing tack driver. 3 shot group at 50 yards.

Oh and they had the Carbon Matrix at the proshop, damn that's a nice bow, but $1200 for a bare bow.:shok:

Archery already started around here, but my bow needs another dozen arrows and I need practice, so no archery for me this year.

And I'm so not ready for gun season. Or small game (starts this weekend). Too busy working for money and trying to get my snowplow fixed up and never got around to getting anything since the boat flipped in the creek..... lol

I haven't done any hunting....well.....since i returned fron Nam in '73. It's taken me this long to want to hold a rifle again. So I just bought an old lever action Winchester(always wanted one of them since I was a kid). I fired it a few times & only had one flash-back(not the rifle...LOL)....not bad--only one.
I'm gonna try to get into target shooting...that's about all I could handle...
