Headliner removal in '97 extended cab

Ok, I imagine I know how it works but just making sure...

So is the only thing holding the headliner in the side trim and dome light?

It's been raining like heck here lately and just noticed some water behind the drivers seat and some mineral coloring above the rear side window so I'm guessing the window seal is done or the nuts are loose... I've changed the rear window before but just winged that since I didn't want to take the seatbelt bolts out and he panel clips are a bastage to get out without breaking...

Oh, and while I'm asking, does the dang thing fit through a door or what do you do with it?

The other reason I ask is I have an explorer overhead console to put in too... and flip out side windows and a sliding rear window...

Any good tips for the panel clip christmas tree things would be good, I broke a couple of them with the best ideas I came up with at the time I put the rear window in

Yes, the headliner will fit through the door... passenger door. If its a 4 door then either side. Get some windshield sealer from the local autoparts store and run a smoothed bead over all the seams for the roof. If you have the 3rd brake light or cargo light that should be sealed as well.

Being a '97 it's just 2 door. The weird thing is it just has the spot over the drivers side rear window not the back window, when the nuts loosened up after I put the back window on and it leaked a little the headliner was dry it just dripped out of the top window trim channel thing the sealant goes in... It's been a while since I've had the 3rd brake light out but I think it's seal looked good, I've been waiting to figure out how to get the cargo light working to glue it in place...

I guess I don't "have" to get the headliner out to get it sealed up, not sure what I was thinking, it's just the big trim piece over the rear drivers side and the metal piece across the back under the window... maybe I'll work on that on Saturday...

If it were me, I would still pull the headliner then take the garden hose and soak areas one at a time. I've heard the 3rd brake light leaking and water traveling to the front of the headliner between the 2 piece roof.
