The bearing caps are machined as a part of the third member. That's why you need to keep them on their respective sides, and shouldn't mix them with different third members. You may be able to get them to work, but my suggestion is that you get a new third member. How exactly did you manage to crack one while just setting up gears?

the main cap. It must have been fractured before i bought the rear end and while setting them up and torquing them down (yes i did them evenly) one snapped.

crazy. Really only two choices. Although the caps are machined with the case if i had to, i wouldnt hesitate to go to a j-yard or find someone with some and put those in.

OR, you can use this as an excuse to buy this:

Really as much as i want to go with option 2 i dont have the spare coin to finish the truck and spruce up the rear end at the same time. its got a mini spool thats about it.

I have just a pair of caps $10pr + shipping if you wanted. Or I'll sale a bare third (no gears, yoke, or carrier) for $60 + shipping
