Hello all,

I posted this question on BlueOval, but I'm purchasing a 92 F250 Custom 5.8L Reg cab, long box 4x4, twin stick (4 speed plus OD), as a DD. I'm wondering what trans it has in it. From what I read I have the ZF-42 (the 47 wasn't used till 96?), or the M5OD-R2. First gear seems very low, so my guess is the ZF5.

thanks

The S5-42 ZF trans has a plate on the lower drivers side for a PTO. was only put in trucks rated at over 8500 lbs GVW. The trans ID plate is located just above PTO takeout and has ZF on it.
The blue vin id decal in the door under trans.
C = Diesel close ratio ZF
M = M5OD
W = Wide ratio ZF

sure sounds like it. Pics would be helpful, but if its 8500+ odds are very good that you have the ZF. great tranny. My dad's 250 has one and I love it. Gonna try squeezing one into a B2 when I go to build a tow rig.
