Hello all, needing to know if I can out my current ecm

#E7TF-12A650-F1A
For
#E7TF-12A650-F1B
"B" is at a current wrecking yard and I am assuming out of a Bronco2
It meets Calif. emissions also.

Does the A matter as to the B?

Ford never published PCM/ECM code meanings.

But the number breaks down like this
E7TF-12A650-F1A
E7 = 1987, E = 198, 7 = 7, F1 would be 1991

TF = Bronco 2, 7F is Ranger

12A650 = generic part number Ford uses for PCMs/ECMs, still uses it today

F1A = ??, best guess is a hardware revision number BUT(big but), it can mean Manual trans only or automatic only.

The actual software loaded onto the PCM/ECM is another number, larger, and Stamped on to the label, this seems to be the more important number to match.

Read here: http://web.archive.org/web/20110414065146/http://fordfuelinjection.com/?p=17

That page includes users contributions for the numbers, not from Ford

I think i understand what your saying. I dont know about that other number on the wrecking yard ecm, it isnt a yard that lets you get your own, they get for you. I guess I can call them to see about it.

In my other thread you post about egr, I replied to it if you have any time to lend some advice please.
