I have looked at every post, images on a web search and YouTube video, can't find the answer layed out..
Chasing the P0401 code I decided to swap the DPFE becasue it was the orginal metal one. In doing this, I believe I found the hoses swaped, can someone please confirm this is the proper connections from the DPFE and the EGR metal valve tube.

During my poking around the IAC was bad, that noise the intake made was deafening..

Thanks!

Solved, I replaced the DPFE form the origanl metal to an aftermarket plastic one (see the diagram, its correct), after 50 miles the CEL is still off.. finally. After the blown head gasket (the head were never torqued down when it was replaced at some point before I bought it) I replaced both 02 sensors to clear that code. I also replaced the IAC valve, I know why it was uncapped.. what a crazy loud intake noise it made when it was stuck open. No more bucking or chugging like before.. Next up, AVM diff locks and swap the rear..
