im from montreal and have been calling scrap yards but everyone is saying its too old blah blah blah
so im wondering:
what other diffs are compatible with the 93-97 ranger/b3000
i already know about the explorer but that too is hard to find?
would a 04+ ranger diff work?

What's the ratio? Great idea is to hit the parts for sale section of the site. If you aren't looking for a 4.10 you stand a pretty good chance of finding one there. You got craigslist in your area?

I think the more important question is to ask what you are doing to destroy all these axles...

Not really sure when, but at some point in the newer Rangers they started putting disk brake rear axles in. They'll still bolt up, but you need to change the proportioning valve and such to make them work properly. Same goes for some Explorers. 2002 and newer Explorers went to independent suspension and will not work. Rangers from 1998 and up had independent front suspensions so the front axle components are not compatible with older axles.

Pretty much any ranger rear will work if you get the correct ratio.
What exactly is breaking in them?

does the ratio really make a difference?
well..i kno it makes a difference but what i mean is does it change anything in fitting it onto my truck?

the stock one i stipped one of the axles..so sometimes it gets stuck sometimes it doesnt turn with the axle and rarely it works

and this one i havent opened it up yet it busted right before winter and it isnt close to my house :lame:

Well... Isn't your B3000 four wheel drive? If it is your rear diff needs to match the ratio of your front diff. Diffs that don't match are an instant recipe for disaster. If you are only running two wheel drive well then all that happens is changes in fuel mileage and you could just about stick any rear diff in it. My B4000 came with 3.27s but I want to change them to 4.56s so I can up to 35 inch tires. So your decision should also keep tire size in mind.

You can get the gear ratio off the VIN sticker on the driver's side door.

That works for you fine folks that can even get past the counter. Out here in good old California it's hard to find a yard that will let you in to just look.
Reason: Insurance, and the fact that they don't want you taking what you don't pay for.

its 2x4 and im putting 15x8 on them with normal tires..my truck is lowered so i wont be putting 31" 35" tires lol

A F-150 rear is too wide. Your spring perches won't line up without being moved and it will stick out way past the fenders.

You specified the rim size in your post. It is your overall tire diameter that you need to take into consideration. If you are going to run stock tire size for example 235R x 15 then whatever RBV diff you can find should work. Just remember Higher ratios 3.27 for example lower RPM at cruising speeds and higher mileage. Lower ratios 4.10 for example higher rpm at cruising speed more torque and acceleration coupled with lower fuel mileage.

RBV diffs should be fairly cheap at your local wrecking yard. Let us know what you come up with.

Too wide and wrong wheel lug pattern (usually). Have to relocate just as much with the Explorer axle.
