Hey guys, I am currently trying to get my 1989 Bronco II to work, She worked last week when i drove her across my garden to the garage. and i took off the Solenoid to put on another rig, [this was last week] and i put it back on the BII today and she is getting power but not turning over, the battery is OK and i even tried boosting it with a 2001 Ford F150. I would really appreciate some ideas,
thanks

I forgot to add that i changed around the wires and got nothing, so i changed it back to the way it was and she turned over for just long enough to notice that she was turning over, and never done it since
thanks

Hmm, I've never had a problem getting my B2 to turn over:

Seriously, when mine does that it is always a cable. I take the battery terminal ends off, scrub them with a baking soda mix, and if that doesn't work I remove the ground and wire brush it. And then I do the one on the starter. It's always one of those.

What Will said. :icon_thumby:

Almost every time it has been a cable &/or connection problem. Last time it happened it ended up being the starter itself. :annoyed:

yup, i had a problem with the engine skipping every time i turned a light on or signaled a turn, sometimes she wouldn't even start. Found my hot wire working its way off the solenoid.

Take the starter to AutoZone and have them test it.

Does the starter turn if you jump the solenoid?

Test the starter again. My 89 years ago had its starter replaced 6 times in 160,000 miles. Bad starters? Idiot behind the wheel? Don't know. But I do know (in my experience) that the starters can go bad pretty damn quickly.

You TOUCHED the solenoid and its cables.

My bet is the cable from the solenoid to the starter is bad.
Or the cable from the battery to the solenoid; you touched it too.

They tend to corrode far under the insulation. I'm thinking you disturbing them did them no good.

That's a good point. They get nasty under there, you bump them then they don't work.
