I was hauling some hardwood flooring back to the house this weekend and when strapping the load down I discovered that my truck doesn’t have any tie down eyes in the middle. I have the holes in the bed liner but no eyes. So I checked into it when I got home and apparently Ford had a supply issue with these tie downs and started to install only 4 sometime during the production run. So I thought no big deal, I’ll just buy two and the bolts. Well, the dealers have realized that these are missing on many trucks and have raised the price to $26.40 ea. Dirty @%#$#. Well, cut to the chase. Ford has left the webpage for the 2019 Ranger up and it clearly states (6) bed tie downs. So with this webpage in hand, the dealer has ordered my new tie down hooks and bolts for free. You may want to check your bed and save a copy of the webpage before Ford pulls it down (MY2020 reference only 4 tie downs).

Cheapskate move on Ford's part. Nice that some of the dealers are stepping up and correcting it. Our dealer also supplied the missing tied downs, and the hardware, at no cost.

I mean, a guy buys a $35,000 truck from Ford... and they skimp out on a third of the tie downs? Especially when the competition, Toyota, has an entire tie down system.

We love our 2019 Ranger, but some of the shit Ford does makes ya just shake your head in bewilderment.

Like a bunch of Rangers shipped without any door seam sealer.... I mean, who does that?

Ya still got four more than whoever bought my truck new. :icon_twisted:

Still pretty bad they were shorting new trucks don't get me wrong.

Seriously though, it took way too long for them to figure out "hey, it would be neat to have a way to tie stuff in the back of this truck"

Whenever you buy a new car/truck you should go over it with a fine tooth comb. Just like when buying a used car except you can get the dealer to do damn near anything to finish the sale. Wait till your ready to start signing paperwork then go "oh by the way, that thing needs bed tie downs, new floor mats, I don't like the color of the lug nuts, also I need a new jacket, and a italian hoagie, and pick up my dry cleaning before we finish this up this deal".

Sure, makes sense.... except how's that work when you "Order" a new truck or they do a dealer trade with another dealer to get the truck you want?

What's being discussed here isn't optional accessories, it's standard components. The brochure and website states "6" tie downs... truck has "4".

That's bait and switch. Thankfully reputable dealers just agree and supply the parts.

I remember eons ago somebody bought a new Ranger and one door panel was a different color than the other, differnt shade of gray or different accent or something like that. He didn't notice it until a couple days after he got it home. Factory assembly line goof. That was pre 2019 bodystyle, I want to say mid 00's.

Getting caught up in the moment, looking for your "gotta have" options... I can easily see missing a few details.

You don't have to take possession of the vehicle if it doesn't meet the specs agreed upon...

My 2015 F150 had the wrong color door panel on one of the supercab doors. It was a black door panel when the rest of the interior was grey. I didn’t notice it for over a week.

Crossed threads are tight threads.
I got some decent priced nice beefy eyelets from my local metal supply store (IMS).

I found some good ones at various hardware stores as well

They were probably told by attorneys its a liability to supply such things. Or marketing execs told them its not worth the cost because truck consumers wont want them.

Opinions vary... but signed contracts don't.

It is only freaking common sense to put tie downs in a pickup bed.
