Ok, I have a 1992 4.0 5 speed. While accelerating in higher gears, or going up hill, the engine jerks and feels like it's missing. Has a very slight rough idle, but barely noticeable. Very rarely, it does it a lower speeds too. When parked and rev it up, it runs like a champ. I've changed plugs, wires, fuel filter and IAC. I cleaned the MAF. Had exhaust leak on pass. side when flange broke, fixed it. Read that it could be DPFE or EGR valve. Found out I don't have one. Went to junk yard and some had it, some didn't, so figured it was normal. I don't have much money to just throw parts at it, but I've talked to mechanics, , friends and anyone else I can think of. No one seems to know anything. Please help!!!

1990-92s NEVER have EGR.

some 1993's (california) do have it.

Some 1994's don't but most do.

Your problem is most likely spark related.

What brand plugs did you put in it.

well, I swapped them for autolite double platinum plugs and it runs like a champ now. Thanks for the help AllanD. It's been driving me nuts for over a month now.

no kidding. I have been trying to track a 2.9 miss under the same conditions for damn near a year. I have replaced everything, but used the basic autolite plugs in the tuneup.
That miss is freaking annoying.
