My credo
The perfect is the enemy of the good.
So, say I get a Gopro 360 camera. Say I mount it on the cab roof. Then I go out and record. The way I understand it, then I can create a file that is compatible to, say, Oculus, so when I view the file, if I turn my head, I can look to the sides or behind me.
Have I got that right? Is anyone doing this?
Also might want camera just in case somebody rams into me and 360 is the only way you'd know you'd get it, absent multiple regular cameras.

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Too rich for my blood lol. When I bought myself a gopro... it was one a couple generations old because the NEW price for something I'm only gonna use for 3.5 hours a year just didn't make sense haha.

Yes, I have a gopro 360view that I use that can do this. I have some hiking videos and some other things that you can view in VR and walk around in the environment. I would love to share more about this if you want to chat.

I hardly even know the questions to ask but will that stop me, no.
Can you use it to 'watch' your truck in a parking lot, or does it have to be on the roof then somebody can steal it?
Is there one format that all the VR goggles use or is it specific to each?
If you turn around and walk backwards is the file 'rewinding' in response to your movement?
How does it know you are walking/turning around?

Part of the issue is it seems like the VR/AR sets are constantly changing and new stuff coming out so how could I know what's best.
I have no VR set so I can't view anything of this kind of file, at least I don't think I can unless there is another way to do it.

Thanks and I hope you understand I know zero about it so my questions are going to seem dumb to you.

VR is tricky in a few ways, lol
Say you mounted a 360 camera on your cab and drove around recording, like Google Map does for Street View

Each image is a freeze frame if you were to view it static(not moving), if you played the video in real time you could look around but not stop when you wanted, or you are back to a static image, objects frozen
So unless the vehicle stopped you are just watching a movie, but could watch/view 360deg around that vehicle while it was driving
