I've got the factory 2.3l. I have recently dropped a new leveling kit and a set of chrome pacer rims. i have been looking into a supercharger or a turbo anything to make my horsepower sky rocket

the stock bottom end doesnt hold up to much abuse. youre 2.3 isnt the same parts as the 2.3t ford used in the 80's. i agree entirely with panama, a 4.0 swap would be 100% bolt-in with the right donor vehicle at your disposal. other than that, youd want to either swap in a 2.3t or build a stronger bottom end.

of course you could swap in a v8, price is gonna depend entirely on what deals you can find on parts. plenty of info on v8 swaps around here, take a look at the v8 swap forum. the reason the 4.0 swap is so common is because everything is bolt in, wiring is plug and play, its all made to fit. if you could find a wrecked donor for $4-600, youd have everything you needed and still be able to sell off whats left to make back some money. what exactly do you want out of your truck and what kind of work are you capable of? that's what is going to decide which route you should take...
