COLD IN KANSAS & new to ranger station. 93 ford ranger 2.3L 5 spd, 4 cyl, 160 K miles. no heat, almost everything has been replaced. I have tried to get the air out of the radiator but not sure if I am using the correct procedure.
there is a T installed in the heater core hose already. the heater core hoses are higher then the radiator cap. Should I open both the T cap & the rad cap and attach a no spill funnel to rad? I have a hose and funnel for the T on the heater hose. What would you recommend. ??

Cold engine
Open T and remove rad cap
Fill rad to top, put on cap
Raise T up and fill , put T cap on

Start engine.
While it is warming up remove overflow hose from rad cap opening, blow in hose to make sure it is not clogged.
Lower hose and make sure fluid from overflow tank flows easily out of hose.

If all is well put overflow hose back on rad cap opening.
Fill overflow tank to Cold mark, if tank seems dirty you should flush it out.

When engine temp gets above 210deg some coolant should come out and flow into overflow tank, when engine cools down that coolant is pulled back into the rad, if overflow tank is dirty sediment can stop the flow back into the rad.

2.xl Lima engine run cool but temp gauge should run just below 1/2 when engine is warmed up, regardless of outside temp.
Thermostat in engine should be rated at 192 or 195degF

Some put a piece of cardboard in front of the rad during the winter to keep temp up.

Both heater hoses should heat up to the same temp as the upper rad hose if heat control is set to Hot.
If only 1 is getting hot then heater core could be clogged, may need to back flush the core.
