i was wondering if the stock driveshafts from a 97 ext cab ranger would bolt up to the dana 20 t-case and the 9" and dana 44?

if i take the flange off the rear shaft i believe it will work to the 9".. im just not sure if it will bolt up to the dana 20 t-case?

anyone have any input on this or what driveshafts to use?

i am currently putting a 44/9inch combo under my 99 ranger, and the axles do not bolt right up to the driveshafts. im not sure what i am doing about it yet, but they wont work without a little modification

Driveshafts are usually the last thing to worry about, you'll have to have one made or adapt one. Just get everything set and start measuring. You're working on a custom so a lot of people are not going to be coming right up with the correct length or shaft number. You're propably going to have to modify the spring perches to get the right pinion angle.

Just say its a ranger and you put a solid axle under the front end. If they can't figure out how to align it, they shouldn't be touching your truck.

so about the driveshaft thing....
i am using my stock rear driveshaft and got a new u-joint for the shaft and a new yoke for the 9 inch. it was easiest and cheapest. im not sure how it will perform, but it will get me around for now. by the way the yoke is a 1310.
ill keep you posted on how it goes.
and for the front...
my driveshaft is too short so i have to lengthen it by like 2in. but i had this ridiculous idea yesterday that the old yoke from my 8.8 and the old ujoint from my rear drive shaft may make it work. that may not make any sense right now, but i am going to look into it and if it actually works then ill let you know and give you some pics!

I used a rear drive shaft out of a 77 ford 150 short bed. I had it cut down and used a 1310/1330 conversion u-joint at the diff. I used a front out put yoke from an old t-case and swapped it with the stupid flange that is on the back of my 1354 t-case. The yoke will bolt right up the 1310 double cardan head of my 77 ford drive shaft.

my stock front driveshaft bolted right up to the dana44 with no slop or play in the yoke so im hoping that if i take the peice that bolts up to the BW 1354 and remove it it shuld bolt up to my dana20 t-case.. and i dunno about the rear driveshaft yet

im sure you already know this but my idea was dumb. i just took my stock bronco shaft i had and got it lengthened and took off the plunger thing at the tcase and replaced it with a cv joint so now the thing extends and compresses on the shaft instead of at the tcase.
