84 B2 Won’t Start in Park

Happy Saturday guys. My son and I are fixing up an old 84 bronco 2 and have rebuilt the carb, replaced starter, plugs, starter solenoid among some other small things.

The current issue that just started recently after replacing the starter is it will not start in Park. If I shift down to neutral I can get her cranked. Thoughts?

Could be the shifter is loose, not moving the "neutral switch" all the way to Park, or the Neutral switch itself is worn out

On the drivers side of C5 transmission there is a Neutral switch, it also does Reverse lights
Should have 4 or 5 wires, 2 for reverse lights and 2 or 3 for Starter motor activation pass thru
Switch is adjustable

Since the Park terminals would be the ones that were used the most in the last 37 years they could just be worn out, "they just don't build them like they used too", lol

This part looks to be loose not sure that it’s supposed to be but I can’t tell where it would connect
