Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum. The reason for my post is that I am starting an engine swap for my 98 Ranger. I am going to use a 3.8 super charged v6 from a 1990 Thunderbird Super Coupe. I have read some of the posts on the site and this engine really has received some undeserved bad comments. I have raced the engine I am going to use for the last 6 years without out any head gasket issues. I have decided to pull the engine from the Super Coupe and put it in the Ranger because of the weight issue with the Thunderbird. The Tbird weighs 4100# with driver, the Ranger will weigh 3100# with driver. 1000# weight reduction = approximately 1 second off your ET. The Thunderbird runs consistent 8.70 1/8 mle times and 13.70 1/4 mile times.
Anyway, I need to know if anyone has done this swap. I need info on the computer swap I will have to do. It will be 1990 SC Tbird to 1998 4 cylinder Ranger. Thanks for any and all help.
I will post pictures of the swap as it progresses.
Thanks again
