I haven't yet done it, and I haven't seen where anyone else has done this to a later model Ranger, but I am very tempted to try it out. Not too concerned about MPG's, just looking to fit a V8 into it and lift it for a little 4x4 fun. Any and all help and suggestions are welcome, even if it is that I shouldn't even THINK of attempting this. It is a 2009 Ranger XLT 4.0 SOHC 4X4.

An 09 would be a 4.0 SOHC. While I think the V8 swap is worthwhile, I think there are better candidates than the 351.

If you want to lift it anyway, look into a 5.4. More power, better potential mileage, all around better engine.
