A neighbor had this Ranger that was overheating and had other issues, and sold it to me for a very good price. I am starting this thread to help me remember some of the things I have done to this truck and to share. Here is the truck I got in November.
As it turned out it needed new cylinder heads on the 4.0 ohv, they were cracked between the valves on both of the cylinders closest to the firewall. I purchased new heads from a co. in Florida and also replaced the push rods and rockers while I was in there. I have pictures of the cracked heads if anyone is interested, but its hard to see the very small cracks. Motor now runs well after also fixing a vacuum leak which kept the heating/ac/vent system from working properly.
Replaced shocks, sway bar links, cruise control steering wheel controls, door lock actuators (both) ,Westin step bars, window guide bar and repaired the bolster on the drivers seat. I am certain there are items that I am forgetting ,but I then began working on the body which had clear coat peeling pretty badly on the upper surfaces. I ended up taking the plastic bed liner out and spraying Raptor liner in it and Monstaliner on the body, their "Lady in Red" matched the original color pretty closely.
Rear bed tonneau cover found on Craigslist, nerf bars added, plastic trim painted, added pinstripes, exterior is about done,
Not sure how to size the pics properly.
Still to do: find leak in a/c system , it seems to last about 3 weeks before needing a charge, also have a small rear main seal leak which I plan to tackle at some point, and get new tires.
I wanted a beach beater (we live near the Outer Banks) and I think this will serve that purpose well.
