Man I tried that. :dntknw:

The other side wouldn't walk out?

I am basing this on Lincoln.

Did a few bag to coil swaps on those too

The coils were more at the time.

Looks like these cars have (4) mufflers.
The video below is described as "X-pipe to replace center resonator, no mid mufflers, and rear mufflers is my personal favorite setup and i've done 'em all. Here's my 2.25'' system with mid x-pipe and rear 10415 magnaflow mufflers"

You'll never get rid of its accent man. :ROFLMAO:

Dad and I replaced the air ride on his Continental with coils. Pretty simple. But then his "air ride" light stayed on after that. He actually just sent that car to the junk yard. RIP Conti

Its probably better to be self deprecating than self defecating.
Don't the old v12 jag coupes need the entire rear subframe and suspension removed to replace the rear brake discs?

Like I said.. ass backwards lol.

Replacing The Upper Control Arm - 2005 Jaguar XJ8

71063

I replaced the right and left upper control arms today.

I removed the (4) nuts holding the top of the air strut, the wire connecter in the center, and then the air line. I unbolted the upper ball joint and removed the bolts with a 17mm ratchet wrench. I also removed the upper nut on the sway bar link and disconnected the sway bar. This allowed me to push down on the rotor and pull the top of the air strut down and out of its mount so I could pull it forward to get the control arm bolts out.

71065

Here's the new Moog upper control arm installed. I got both arms from RockAuto for $205 shipped (used our discount code).

71066

Looks like the tie rod end on the driver side needs replaced as well. :shout:

71068

In the pic above you can see one of the upper control arm bolts (under all those air hoses). None of the (4) were that hard to get to.

71069

On the drivers side I couldn't get the air fitting out. I eventually realized that it was getting caught on the body / frame and wouldn't fit through the opening.

71071

Lowering the air strut down some I was able to get the air fitting out of the top of the strut. I actually pulled the plastic air line out of the fitting trying to remove it.

71072

You can see where the air fitting sits down in the strut.

71073

71074

I used a metal file to clean up the opening that the air fitting was getting caught on.

71075

Both sides are finally done. I need to pick up some tie rod ends this weekend.

I got this used clock spring off of ebay for $104 (couldn't find a new one):

71077

The struts that hold up the trunk lid were suppose to be delivered today by FedEx. The tracking shows that it's 'delayed'.

Also need to fix the horn, and find out why the heated seats aren't working.

Well that didn't look like it seemed so bad. how many hours did it take you? And I wonder how long that guy hung on to that clock spring before you found it for purchase....Maybe I should post those old Impala door handles and Yamaha V star parts in the shed....

OHHH... look at me. I’m from Texas where there’s no rust and we can just unbolt parts.

I’m actually a little jealous... It must be nice to be able to unbolt things without having to use the torch to heat/cut every rusted part.

Hey, I spent 49 years living in Ohio watching shit rust. I have retired from rust. It was 75 degrees here yesterday as I was unbolting suspension components. :icon_hornsup:

Makes me sick when I look at my Ranger and see rust. A reminder of those years in Ohio. It's rare to find rust on Texas cars. I'd like to find a rust free 2001-2011 Ranger here.

I’ve never seen rust anything like what I see on our work trucks. Rust used to be a minor inconvenience that a wire brush and a little paint could take care of (if you caught it early)... if it’s quiet enough, you can hear these plow trucks rust. We have a double hit with how close we are to the ocean and the road salt... I can’t wait to retire and move away from this crap.

The new trunk lift supports for the Jaguar XJ8 came today from https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/

I had seen some listed on Amazon and read reviews stating that they opened with to much force, so I shopped around and found these. $38 shipped. They have a nice smooth operation. No more wood propping the trunk lid. :icon_thumby:

Simple 2-minute job. Use a small screwdrive to release the spring clip at each end, remove the strut, and snap on the new one.
