Hello,

I live in Houston, and cannot find anyone that would be interested in doing a 5.0 in my 1996 ranger. Figured I would check on here

There is a TON of time involved in a swap like that. Unfortunately that means major money unless you're having it done by a close personal friend who works for beer...

You're best bet is to find a custom shop in your area to do the work then.

Nobody has any experience and doesn't feel comfortable doing it. I prefer to have a member on here do it. Work out something like dropping it off at their house/shop

So according to them, there is no money making in an engine swap is what I'm hearing.

On a side note: If you were to gather all the parts, help with doing the install to learn stuff, I sure someone would be more inclined to help. Grant it no one works for free but more people are willing to help if you help yourself.... Just sayin'

Gathering all of the stuff that I need is the easy part. My concern is, that I will have a garage full of parts, and nobody to help. I can do basic things like starter, brakes etc. Financially I am very comfortable, so I am capable of making it worth someone's time.

Well it is a time consuming job to swap an engine. So getting someone to commit to a task that amount of time is hard even with paying them. This is why I suggested a shop to do it. They usually have the space and time to do these things.

Have you thought of shops outside your area?

You might look at V8 Ranger conversions that are already done, road tested and licensed, and for sale

V8 Ranger is a labor of love not a good investment, lol, its a money loser for sure(as are ALL modification, you get back 50cents on the dollar IF YOU ARE VERY LUCKY), and done because you WANT a V8 Ranger

There has to be a shop either in Dallas or Houston that has experience. This swap goes back years, and seemed fairly common.

I've already invested a lot in the suspension, and interior, so I prefer not to start over.

Heck I'm down for shipping it as long as it isn't on either coast.

There is a shop called Extensive Metal here in Houston, they gave me a rough estimate of 9-11k lol
They have a TV show called Texas Metal. They are big time now, charging big time prices
