Project SVT

There is a Cheby 60 with 4.10s on Eville CL.

I don't want GM axles...I seen how a 14 bolt is designed and you couldn't give me one to use in m truck....ford or dodge axles only, but thanks for keeping an eye out :icon_thumby:

yeah extra pinion support bearing, higher pinion placement, 1.5"shafts, who wants that?:thefinger:

Shhh...It's a secret!!

Don't forget your wheels falling off!! :icon_surprised: Do you realize that the only thing holding your wheels on is a snap ring?? My buddy has a 3500 that started to lose its axle out of the housing, so I went over, and completely rebuilt the outer housing with all new bearings and seals...He didn't make it 50 feet down his driveway the same problem (much like mine when I snapped my axleshaft, both his wheels [dually], drum and shaft came out. Took it back apart and found the snapring groove was worn (the snapring that holds the inner bearing race in the hub). I pulled the axle and installed a Dana 70 HD...
I don't need or want that kind of engineering, GM always did half-a$$ $hit, they built it good on the inside, and as always did $hitty on the outside. And as for extra pinion support, I can get that with a 9"...1.5" shafts?? standard 35 spline shafts are 1.5" and available in d70's...The piece of mind knowing your wheels won't fall off going down the driveway...Priceless :icon_thumby:

:shok: wow id be afraid to drive something on the road that only had a snap ring holding the wheels on.

dude, what the hell happened to your thumb!

Dammit man! I would love to have that little B2

I still don't understand why everyone goes with 60's or 70's over 9" axles. Maybe because the stock 31 spline axles are not as tough? But the ability to move up to 35 spline setup seems like the 9" would reign king...:dunno:

The 9" has the ability to run 35 spline axles, so I've been thinking of running a 9" center with 70 outers. I have a 9" right now, but it has the 28 spline axles in it, if it would have had the 31 spline axles, it would be under SVT right now...

I was working on Jay's truck drilling some plates on the drill press. We were rushing the project and as usual things didn't go right. The drill bit bit the material and slung it around pinching my thumb between it and the slot in the drill press table, going through my thumb. A word from the wise, don't rush and think you can hold the material...Clamp it!! :icon_thumby:

haha nice. I was fabbing up some body mounts last night and when i was drilling the hole for the bolt to go through I never had it clamped either, and my drill press is down in the other garage so i figured id just use the electric drill. i was drilling on the bench right next to the vise, and after i got the hold drilled, you know how it goes the bit gets kinda stuck through the hole you drilled, anyways i held on to the plate and tried to wiggle it off but i hit the trigger by mistake, the steel spun around and threw my hand back at the vice and the steel cut right through my palm. ouch

I know, that's why i dont understand why everyone switches to Dana's or 14 bolts.

mine was a 28 spline when i bought it, i don't think you would have a problem (at least not for a while) with running that axle. It is the same as the 31 spline except the last 3" or so where it enters the 3rd member has is a bit thinner to run fit the 28 spline diff.
