Hello all. This is my first post. I was turned on to the site by the guy I bought my 84 reg. cab from yesterday.

A lil' about me. I live in Vancouver WA and am a long time bracket racing fan. The ranger is going to be my daily driver while I work on my 74 Plymouth Scamp drag car.

But me being the gearhead I am I refuse to drive a "economy" car on a daily basis. So I found this clean 84 reg. cab with a 302 and auto for $1800 on craigslist. I ended up buying it for $1300 and drove it home the 60 miles without a problem.

Has a 302 and auto from a 79 LTD
Perfomer 289 intake
Carter 600 CFM carb
Heddman conversion headers
2 1/4 duals to a flowmaster dual inlet muffler with single 2.5 tailpipe
Powermaster ministarter
Carter electric fuel pump
James duff conversion motor mounts
remote oil filter mount
7.5 rear :lame:
New BRITE white paint over so so bodywork
14 in Chrome steel american racing wheels with dinky P195/70R14 tires
Interior needs the most work. :bawling:

Just got done bolting on a set of 2006 Mustang 16x7 alloy wheels with
P205/55R16 on front and P225/50R16 on rear. I did have to use some thin spacers on the front wheels to get the needed clearance without machining the wheel and used the same spacers on the rear because I had another pair.

Right now it runs alright, needs a good tune up, carb work and some dist. tuning. Should make for a fun daily street brawler.

Sorry about no pics tonight, but I will get plenty ASAP, I promise.

:EDIT: I ended up ditching the low pro 16's for some 215/60R16's I had laying around. And Pics as promised!

Welcome, and post some pics. Im in Longview, we should go to PIR sometime.

NOW WITH PICS!! :yahoo:

But the camera SUX! :icon_rofl:

I had a gremlin surface today on the way home from work.
Something is causing the ignition to cut out for very short spurts and at very random intervals. Was just driving down the road and it was like I turned the ignition switch off. Gonna have to track this lil' electrical gremlin down.

I had some time to do a lil' work to the Ranger.

I cleaned up all the wiring under the hood, took care of a few oil leaks and relocted the electric fuel pump to the frame rail closer to the tank where it should be. It was on the pass. inner fender. :icon_rofl:

I also installed a homemade 2 inch coil spacers and replaced the P215/60R15 tires with some P245/70R16's

Update!!!

I finally got some much needed work done to my truck this past weekend.

The old 79 LTD 302 blowing smoke from all over the place. (breathers, tailpipe, dipstick tube, ect.) :icon_rofl:
Something inside the engine was rattling and getting worse by the day, (sounded like a cracked piston at the wrist pin to me)
Gas mileage was horrible, (around 9-11 MPG) :bawling:
The old 1G alternator was having a hell of a time running wipers, headlights, electric fan and electric fuel pump, (then turn on the turn signal and everything just stalls to half speed) :annoyed:

So out with the old 79 302 2V/FMX trans. and in with the newer 93 HO 5.0L/AOD trans.

I picked up the 93 5.0L and AOD from a rearended 93 T-bird with 96,000 miles. Only 18,000 on the rebuilt AOD. The engine and trans came with all the front accessory brackets, 3G alternator, P/S pump, water pump, timing cover, everything! I got the whole mess for $400

The brackets on the 93 T-bird are the exact same as the SN95 mustang and work great with some trimming and grinding. I have about an extra 1.75 inch clearance between my water pump and electric rad. fan with the SN95 front dress compared to the 79 LTD front dress. Not to mention I go from two v-belt to one serp. belt.
It was all a drop in swap except for wiring up the Alt. grinding the brackets, and plumping the P/S pump.

Now for some pics.

I like the look before bigger tires and spacers...but then again look at mine and you see why.

LOL. Me too!

I removed the 2 inch srping spacers up front and cut 1 1/2 coils off and flipped the rear shackles months ago. I am currently running 225/50R16 fronts and 245/50R16 rears.

Thats an old picture with the tall tires.
