Hello fellow Ranger enthusiasts.
A quick one sentence summary for those that don’t like to read:
Is the flowmaster super 40 a decent exhaust choice for an upgraded sound on my daily driver that wont irritate other people and wont irritate me with too much drone?
The Rest:
Recently ended up with an exhaust leak and when I took it to a recommended local shop for a quote, it came up in conversation that I wish my Ranger’s (4.0 SOHC) exhaust had a little bit of life to it. Based on what I told them, they recommended the flowmaster super 40.
Now, everyone’s opinion on exhaust tone/volume/tolerable drone/etc is going to be different. That much is obvious on browsing threads here and elsewhere.
However, I’d like to get some opinions that are at least a bit more geared toward my specific situation.
What I told the shop I wanted was “an exhaust note that can actually be heard, but isn’t going to bother anyone”. What came to mind for me was how it sounded on a cold start in the middle of PA winter.
Something important I neglected to mention to the shop, which I will before Saturday’s appointment, is that this is my daily driver and I don’t want to have to deal with an annoying drone in the cabin.
You may say “why not just stick with what you have if that’s all you’re looking for?”. Fair point… however… I live in a place where rust and salt is plentiful. The muffler isn’t lookin great and I’d rather just hit it all now. They quoted me 390 to fix the leak and throw on the super 40 which sounds good to me. I just want to make sure that it’ll literally sound good to me.
All opinions/suggestions are welcome.
