Project “Fat B!tch 2.0” is officially underway!!

Nothing happening lately.

End of year work schedule, new years, and (of course)….. rain.

Hopefully Wednesday will be clear and I can start stripping it down.

I’ll admit, this is a lonely build as none of my friends seem interested. It’s ok. They’ll wanna ride when I’m done….. ever red little red hen.?

I find myself in a similar situation. None of my local friends are car or truck people. They just view them as tools to get around in. Most don't even know how to even do more than basic work on them. They would rather pay others to do that.

Wish you lived closer Sgt….

This is why I am on the forum this late.....I love my family, but my daughter and granddaughter live with my wife and I, going on five years now, and my projects and small farm show it....I am Director Of Operations at work, which means I either fix everything, or get asked about everything, and the long hours to go with it. I can work on most anything, but all my projects are stalled and rotting away, and my last trip to the local PAP was over five years ago. I can and do work alone, I do it all the time here at home, keeping the wife and daughter mobile and able to go to work. But in doing all that, all the "me projects" have halted, and local "friends" would rather watch the current streaming TV obsessions or sports when they are not working, or go out to dinner ($$$ now) and if they don't pay someone to cut their grass, they can do it with a single battery on their trendy push mower.

I hear you. Thetwo most capable people, who would have an interest in helping, are some distance away and have enough problems of their own. I try to leave them be and they do the same with me, unless they or I absolutley need to have another body. We all are forced to figure out ways to get almost everything done on our own as a result.

Gonna make some headway tomorrow as I’m off work.

Anyone wanna join the fun?

Stripped out the suspension today. Funny thing, the rear axle was harder to drop out than the front suspension…. Guess it’s bc I didn’t cut any brake lines or cables

Front suspension. Anyone need it? Going cheap! 🤣

Here’s the rear axle I’ll be using…. Saw today that it may be a D70! I’ll have to confirm later, right now the goal is to get the spring perches at the correct width, and pinion angle set (kinda).

Gonna be doing the Chevy leaf spring conversion also, but I’m gonna have to figure out about the rear cab mount. I’ve read the article on the tech page, but I’m not sure I like how the front mounts for the bed are left with no support after the rear cab bracket is trimmed. May have to fab a new “all in one” bracket, but that’s a problem for a later time.

looked like a dodge axle for a min..but those are usually corporates....or a c&c dually ford van maybe.

70 will be a 35 spline. ford perches are generally rolled, though there are econo chassis with the cast things.

Yep Bobby, that’s where I got it from!! A Ford Ambulance.

the super 70 has bigger shafts ... like 36 or 37 spline so common lockers ect can be a shit show...like the 60u with 32 spline oddballz

The 2000's? Chevy ambulance I drove had a factory limited slip in the dually rear axle. The thing would drift in snow covered parking lots like no other.

That's an Eaton gov-lock or some people call them a gov-bomb, they work fine right up to the point they explode... taking out the carrier.

I'm jealous on how clean everything looks.
