Starting to dig into Forscan. On the new model Rangers, there is some built in easy mode where you just click what options you want on and off. Not so much on the older ones I've found.
I spent most of the day searching around for data about what to change ect. For F250s, 150s, explorers, I was able to find some pretty comprehensive spreadsheets explain what bits to change to modify the various modules.

Almost nothing for Rangers.

I'd like to start putting one together, but I'll need some help.

What I'm thinking.

If I can get enough people to send me screen shots of their as built data for all the modules and a list of all the factory options, configurations, ect. I can build a data base, and compare the as build date to see what bits are different, and that would tell us what bits need to be changed to enable to disable various options.

Then once reasonably confident what a bit does, enable or disable it to test.

It would be great to build a database that we can share with the forum so in the future people can modify as needed.

Main reason I was trying this out was to see if I could modify the PCM to change the transmission type. Turns out the PCM data is not configurable for this generation ranger, i expect due to lack of interest.

Here is a link to my list so far. Everything in Red Text still needs to be tested, green text is tested.

It'll be a live document, so as I get more information I'll be adding to it.

This is way above my pay grade, but it sounds like a great idea. Hope you get the info you need.

I'm game to an extent, but I don't know how much help I'll be. I have a OBDII cable, and a laptop with FORScan. My '99 isn't stock with the ECU change for the V8 swap. Also have access to a 01 4x4 4.0L, but it isn't mine so can't experiment with settings on it.

So how does one retrieve the as built data? I didn't see much available in the "wizard" section the one time I recall connecting it to the '99. The only thing I messed with was changing the tire revolution per mile to match the installed tires, but couldn't even tell you how much effect that had.

Finally got around to doing a write up on the as build data configuration in Forscan.

Here is the link.

I think I'm going to pin this for now so it doesn't get buried.

I’d love to help with this if I can since I have the tools to do so. It won’t happen today, but in the next few days if I have time. Where would you want the info sent?

The easiest thing would be to either PM pictures of all pages or post them here. Then I'll add them to spreadsheet.

GEM and IC seem to be the most used.

I'll also need a description of the truck with all options. That way I can compare it to other trucks with with or without the same options.

Well, of corse when I actually *want* to use my computer that has FORscan on it, the computer decides it’s done and crashes every time. So I have to diagnose that now.

I am interested in this and can help. I have an 07 XLT that I'm trying to figure out how to disable the TPMS on. Got some info from the Forscan site but not sure what values to plug in. I'll get some screen-shots today and post them with my trucks options.
