He did mention some foam. But what size particle does it filter out? I really doubt that it has anywhere near the efficiency needed to protect the internals of the engine. OP.. read a little about intake air temperatures, their effect on timing, and timings effect on power. Also read up on intake air velocity.

I wasn't trying to belittle him in any way. Merely offering some positive educational value instead of saying "it's bad" without giving a reason why. I've had lots of people over the years tell me I had a bad idea, but not tell me why it's bad. I think that is insulting and counterproductive. I have far more respect for the people who taught why my ideas were bad.
No filtration - abrasive dust and dirt is getting sucked right into your engine.
