Reduced to crutches, then left in the woods.

well if you weren't like 6+ hours away i'd offer to help... but with gas.... and i doubt my ranger would help much. good luck

It would, and so will the Kabota.
It should be noted that this is by no means the level of trail that I built this rig for. This is a nice, known-to-us trail for rig testing before we go push the envelop. It has some bog, a mud hole, some nice challenging hills, (especially in the rain), and a normally wetter creek crossing. I like to be happy with engine and things before I go and really challenge the truck. (and myself)

Bottom line, nothing is unstoppable. Nothing. Doesn't matter what the machine, there is terrain somewhere that will stop it.

Boggin,
By 'stuck' do you mean "driven under a snowpile"???

i think all serious wheelers have some trails like that, i know mine is a nice local trail with some rocks, a water crossing or two, and plenty of mud and hills...

reason i asked about a duece to begin with is it could be driven there and not trailered

Dishtowel, do you have a detailed write up of how you built your own lift?i checked the car domain but just wondering if you could elaborate on the self built drop brackets?

Detailed? like print out patterns? lol, no. Sry man. Just the pics on cardomain for now. I can get you more later. I used 1/2 plate doubled up with 4x4 square tubing to make the passenger beam bracket. And I just extended the existing driver side beam bracket down with plate. The biggest thing is being patient and makeing sure you UNDERSTAND how this suspension works. Are you a good student of geometry? 3D geometry? The 'traction beam' describes a circle, and the radius arm describes a circle. Make sure you know what your getting into. And, as I have learned, overbuild your radius arms. Todd, and others have some good built drop brakets as well, I wish I had stuffed a small chuck of tube in my drivers side one like he did.

Thanks, man.
I have been walking around kinda puzzled because, I live in GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALBERTA. The city that sells brand new trucks, straight from the dealership WITH A LIFT INSTALLED. And I am having a hard time finding a friend with a truck that has A:power B: clearance C:tires. The toyota has 2 out of 3. But, jeez. Why is this suddenly a challenge? They dont even have to wreck anything, I could even use one of those poser 4x4 pansies.

Me too. A bit of a drive.

Dishtowel, I wonder if you'd be better off to take the BII off the trailer then skid it out on the log ???

Sounds like it is time for an enthousiastic potential buyer to go for a test drive. :woot:

If it was me I would leave it on the trailer at this point and try to get the whole works out. Those tiltbed trailers are nerve wrecking to load/unload on flat level ground.

Like I said, this trail is not to bad, and it was way dryer than we expected! With the exception of the ditch when I broke (pictured with toyota) you could have made it. (Probably, lol)

The log got removed because I needed the chain.... could be put back, be the Kabota will make short work of this mess. I promise.

Well, here is a video. Not the Kabota, but me and the 5.0L ROARing through a small (and really challenging when it's soggy) mudhole on the same trail.

kk, but why do that when I have the rad arm pieces at home, with good material, work bench, better welder, etc? I just dont have the time in my days!

I didn't know it was already off. That's going to make it tougher to field repair because you can't be 100% it will still fit after you weld it up.

For the guy suggesting winching, I don't think you appreciate how much current a winch draws and how hot it gets. They aren't cooled and can't be run endlessly even if you had all the power in the world.

Hopefully the tractor solves this. It does suck that you can't get anyone to help. I guess it's times like this that let you evaluate your friends.:buttkick:

True, but I have faith in my recolection of what it was before I mangled it. And I have faith that 2-3 come-alongs will convince everybody into place! lol

I dont know if anybody can appreciate what a land anchor this trailer is. I have had some trucks pretty stuck. (Once had the toyota front tires UNDER tree roots, and we still had some froward progress happening.) This trailer is a different beast. After winching that yellow ford and the trailer 40 or so feet, with snach blocks and all that, the winch was hot enough to cook on.

Hopefully the tractor solves this. It does suck that you can't get anyone to help. I guess it's times like this that let you evaluate your friends.:buttkick:
The tractor and the chainsaw together can clear their own working area to the side of the trail and then we can fish the trailer out. I'm not sure exactaly how it's going to go down, but I'm bringing my whole truck box full of tools and junk. It's not that my friends wouldnt' come when called. It's that they dont have the equip, and, day jobs take up most of the day, lol.

PS: there will be no field repair, the Kabota is on the trailer, rolling out after lunch. I reallyreally hope no-one has f'ed with it.

Anti-climatic

status? following this intensely!
+1!

(lol, thanks!)

One word boys and girls: ANTI-CLIMATIC.
The Kabota pwns face offroad. Why did I build a bronco? lol.
I ditched work at lunch, dad borrowed a heavy car carrier from a friend and we trailer Kabota out. My mom and sis tagged along for entertainments sake. Once we got to the peatbog I backed the kabota up to the trailer, used the 3 point hitch to fish the trailer tounge onto the ball on the tractor, that worked wicked awesome. The the Kabota proceded to walk out as if there was no trailer attached to it. Didn't even spin a tire.

As per requested, vid.

The big guns arriving.

I wonder what Junkie thinks of this steering geometry? lol

So, now it's all washed and in the shop on stands. I am pooped, so tomorrow the rad arm rebuild/reinforce will begin.
