Reduced to crutches, then left in the woods.

Don't you know anyone with a 4x4 that can get back there and pull that trailer to the highway in which you can hook it to the chevy and go home? Maybe even see a 4x4 and offer $20 to pull it to the road. Its either that or get some Rad arms, and be out there putting them on to drive it out.

Got three guys lined up, lol.

Haha, you can have Florida, I'll take any excuse to move back north.

:icon_rofl:

What, all the warm weather and sun doesn't agree with ya? :icon_twisted:

There's a subtle difference between warm weather and nice sun and 100 degrees with 100 percent humidity and sun so powerful you'll get burned in about 15 minutes. Not fun! Now go through all that right after a hurricane has hit and knocked out power for 5 days, therefore losing the precious gift of air conditioning, or even a fan. Want to live in Florida now?

Off-road vehicle recovery. Been there. Its more on the terms of, "How much cable can you hike with".

Enjoy getting your rig out. It all makes for a good story someday. And give those that helped a round of drinks, on the house.

Awesome use of a log !!!!

Yeah, I would think getting another radius arm on there and driving it out would be easiest (perhaps a temp repair on the arm that broke, then weld up some new ones using beefier tube welded inside the arm (and plated up) instead).

Good luck with your recovery. My biggest fear when leaving a vehicle in the woods is having vandals come across it and start breaking/stealing shit. IMO, I probably would've kept quiet about it on the forums until you got it out.

if i could lend a hand i would....but as u c im 2 far away

Ready welder is what you need. That, a working alternator and a couple of batteries and you would be on the trail in no time!

With all due respect, another radius arm would be more work than just repairing my broken one. I fear vandals as well, but then I remember that I had to road just under an hour to get to this trail and there is manymany overused and over populated trails closer to town. That is where I would be VERY worried about vandals. Like, camp with my truck, worried about vandals.
Good thought on the keeping quiet until it's out strategy. But, there dosn't seem to be very many people from my area on here. I know there could be lurkers, but I dont *think* I have said anything to do with location....? The whole Provence looks like this, lol. Some is mountains, some is trees, some is swamp. This could be any corner of western north america.

I will be carrying 12-24 small rods now. And a couple pairs of sunglasses. lol.

So, retrivial effort day 2. I got a buddy from work to come out and give it a go in his F150. 2-3" body lift with worn 35's. We slapped my winch on the front and coupled up to the trailer. He drove about 5 feet, lol. Then we winched about 50-60 ft. Then the winch was hot enough to cool on, even thought I was useing 2 snatch blocks. So we tried the YANK approch, and made good progress! Gained another 20 ft, almost pealed his bumper off. Then I zzinged my knuckle on his rad fan hooking the chain to the frame. Gained another 10 ft. But then we weren't moving with the yanking anymore. and the winch+bumper combo was out of action, and it was getting dark. So, we undid the trailer and headed for home. I estimate we are 60% of the way throught.
I WILL NEVER DO THIS 'LOADED TRAILER THROUGH MUD' SHIT AGAIN.

PS: I modded the rad arm off my D28. I have since swapped in the D35. I have the D35 rad arms sitting in the shed. I know they have a different shock bolt, but other than that are they any different? Thicker? Stronger? Heavier?

ya know, at that point i would lure in a few friends, LOTS OF TOOLS and a pair or torches. the trailer on the trail has stupid written all over it your right. you would of been better off dragging your carcass of a b2 while on the log with the winch. you have PLENTY of sympathy from me. i have had a few really crappy situations too. that looks like a situation for jumper cables and a whole lot of batteries tho.
