Any decent Batteries left in this world? Diehard? Optima?

Anyone running an Energizer (car battery) - a little research says that is one of the last ones made in the USA - mfg by East Penn Manufacturing.. apparently their DEKA (truck/tractor) is supposedly good..... Not on a "Buy American" soapbox, but seems the quality of american stuff is at least half ass there unlike the overseas crap.
I only use East Penn batteries in all my builds. Deka is the brand name, but East Penn is the manufacturer. We use 2 8D batteries in every build. I've tried Lifeline (which is my aux battery in my truck) and many other brands. The only ones that hold up longer than a couple years are the East Penn. I do believe the SuperStart batteries at O Riellys are also East Penn. That being said they are all AGM. I haven't used a flood acid battery in quite a while. Mainly deep cell marine batteries.

Oh and just a reference we use 12 to 15, group 31 batteries, and 24 to 30, 8D batteries a year.

I was about to ask where the heck you source em cause I could find nothing but decided to search a bit more... I found 4 vendors - 3 industrial places in Denver, Colorado Springs, and Evansville WY - looks like you have to have a corporate account at any of those... or Ace Hardware!

Unfortunately out in the sticks where I am no stock, everything is order.... grrr that stings when a guy is looking for a solution that he can just walk into a brick and mortar location for warranty or normal replacement and just get the product right there that day.

I also found that Odyssey is American made as well, so kudos to you guys who have been buying em, and glad to hear that they are doing "better than average".

I used 2 sites to hunt for verification of just where stuff is actually made - here they are:

The only battery that is worth purchasing is the INTERSTATE GREENTOP HD. The model I use in RBV's is a schosche on the BiG but suites the mission perfect.

MODEL# MPT65HD

Last one I purchased was through the local Firestone dealership; it was on sale, they took off their military discount too...it was $136.00 plus tax.

Been running a die hard battery for over five years, no problem. Most car batteries are expected to last five years. Napa batteries are supposedly made by East Penn, and if it’s made in USA I’ll prioritize it over any other brand.

Good to know. A NAPA battery is in my Ranger right now. I had assumed every battery was from somewhere overseas.

I assumed the same, but my ranger has a Napa battery in it, that is probably around seven years old and it’s still running fine. I have a sienna with a die hard in it, still going strong.

I appreciate everybodys input. Today I was running errands and my Ranger battery died on me. I have had problems with it before so was not surprised. I am giving the Napa Gold a chance. I have an Orielly 1 mile from me, Autozone/Walmart 15 mile and a Napa 20 miles away. Decision maker for me is convience of exchange if needed. I dont think Napa parts are the gold standard as they used to be but still feel they do have better parts in general and not just batteries. I did see a few other contenders but my location did determine some of my decision. Time will tell.
