Twister 85 B2 Build


How far from the bottom of the rad is the fan? If it's center or close enough then from the looks of the last picture, you could go with a slightly larger one.

It sticks out the bottom a little. I was a bit surprised, I thought a 17" fan would be a bit bigger.

Ive got about 3/4-1" between the fan and the radiator. The fan seem a little low but that was to be expected because of the body lift. Looking through 85's write up for the explorer FEAD, it looks like his is lower as well. I will need to trim my shroud to make it fit on the bottom.

The Explorer radiator takes a different shroud than a BII or Ranger radiator. The mounting clips at the bottom are spaced differently.
 
Swapping to the explorer FEAD, the alt becomes internally regulated so do I need the fender regulator anymore, can I just unplug it?

Also, which stud does the small orange wire go to on the starter solenoid. The solenoid broke a long time ago and hasn't been there and I forgot which side it went on.

The wire goes to the S, for start. The coil goes to the I, for ignition.
 
Got my oil filter mount all mounted up and hoses ran. I just want to make sure I get the hoses right, I know if them are put on wrong it will f the engine up. Both the block plate and the filter mount both have "In" and "Out". Does the in go to the out and the out to the in, or does the in go to the in and the out go to the out? I lost the instructions and jegs changed their kit and doesn't offer instructions on their sits.

The oil goes OUT of the engine and INto the filter, and then OUT of the filter and INto the engine.
 
Were did you end up mounting your filter?

Also make sure your lines don't get to close to a belt, they do like to move a little when under pressure. Had one touch mine and slice it.

I mounted it where the charcoal canister use to be. I had bit of trouble with hose routing, but I think I got it in a way that will work. Had to use some old heater hose to make some makeshift insulation because the hoses touch in spots. That's with the belt routed, so no worry about it hitting the hoses.

Don't forget to fill the oil filter, help prevent some dry starting due to all the lines are empty.

Found this hole on the head inbetween the intake runner for cylinder 2 and 3. Don't know what it is for.

Don't know, doesn't seem to be any carbon or oil build up compared to the rest of the intake, and it's not clean like it would be leaking coolant either.
