Twister 85 B2 Build

I've always used a 3/8 extension to get the pilot bearing out instead of a bolt. I put electrical tape on it until it makes a tight seal then hit it with a hammer.

Well, been out of town since the 2nd, just back last night. I got the bearing out, but i had to rent a puller. I tried all the home remedy trick but none of them worked, puller pulled it out in less than 5 minutes. got the new one put in along with the flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. Tomorrow the tranny get bolted back to the engine, and put back in the truck. The engine needs some washers put on the driver side motor mount to level it out. Also got the oil pan, timing cover and water pump on.

Finally coming down to the permanent installation steps now.

My engine has dropped down about an inch since I did my swap a year ago. Hopefully it's done settling, my oil drain plug is now below the ttb mount compared to it was above it when did my swap a year ago.

Yeah my motor settled too. It caused the header to hit the steering. I bought a passenger side mustang mount and I used a 2"x4"x1/4" tube. I notched it to fit the engine crossmember and cut a slot for the motor mount. I trimmed and adjusted till it sat flush to the motor mount then welded it up.

Got the tranny bolt back to the engine, what a pita that was after putting the flywheel and clutch components on. Before I put then together I "flushed" the tranny with fresh oil till it ran clean. I added two washers to each bolt on the driver side motor mount because it was lower than the passenger side, but it is still needing of more. Is there an amount of lift using washers I want to avoid? I also need to figure out the tranny crossmember, the stock one from the a4ld will not work with out cutting out some of the middle because It runs into the tranny mount.

Ok so I added a good amount of washers to the driver side but I cannot get the engine to levelnout side to side. I would think youbwould want it somewhat level but does it need to be perfect?

How far off are you?

It won't be earthshattering if it isn't dead on.

With a flat piece of metal laying across the intake with a level, i have to tilt it about 1/4"- 3/6" to get the bubble level.

And the truck is sitting level?

Good question, didn't even think to take that into account. What will happen if the engine is not somewhat level?

Also cut some metal from the middle of the tranny cross member to get the transmission to sit down on it, don't know if it is going to permanently work, ill have to throw the t-case on to see.

That's exactly how I my trans was mounted to the trans xmember but since I don't have a body lift, I had to cut, turn and weld the passenger side of the mount to get my tans to sit low enough plus have the hole mount under the driver side frame mint instead of on top where it was.

Like me, your just going for it to drive again and worry about 4wd later, which I'm almost done getting mine back to after a year now.

Slight set back :(. Doesn't appear the 4406 will work, it.looked like it would just by eye balling it, but I bolted it to the transmission and tried to put the transmission crossmember back on bit the transfer case seems to be just too big. The middle of it hits the floor, the top of the tailhousing hits a cross brace and the slip yoke runs right in another crossbrace.

The crossbrace right above the blue line is one of them it hits :(

Time to bust out the sawzal and the BFH. If I can get a fullsize setup under my truck without any body lift then you should be able to.

I'd rather not cut any more.

How tall is your transcase? I'll get you the measurement of how tall my np208 is to see if that one will work before you go get another one, if that's what you are going to do.

If you are willing to that would be awesome.
