Ok, so I'm doing 6 new injectors on my dad's 99 Ranger 4.0, I have everything all set and ready to go, I'm following the instructions on All-Data for replacing the injectors, which says to place them in the fuel rail and then put them in the manifold, I followed a tip online and put just a dab of clean oil on the O-rings but i still can't get the darn things in:

Is there an easier way to do this?

The oil makes the o-rings slide in better.

You should just be able to rock the rail and have the injectors slide into place.
I would try one injector to make sure they fit, could be wrong size but that's a long shot.

The rail is the high pressure side of the system(35-60psi), which is why you should install them in the rail first, the manifold side is a vacuum so while it needs to be sealed it is a low pressure seal.

got it done, i decided to ignore what All-Data said, i stuck all the injectors into the manifold, oiled the end that went into the rail, and after some effort i got it on- now to just button everything back up and get to the next project

I get some silicone spray lube or WD-40, which ever is easier to come by, spray is into the can cap until I have a puddle deep enough to dip the injector rings in, and then get it all set up in the manifold and tap any problem units with a rubber mallet to the rail.
