Gt-12

lol, my fox didn't have cupholders, i don't believe...

my ranger literally has double the cup holders as seats... might bump it up to tripple the cup holders in a while...

heck b2's don't have cupholders... not first gens.
i'd like to do some fx4 seats in mine tho, with the little cup holders between the seats. anwyays....

so..... when you paying for us all tickets to come check out this build?
you sure?

mine has 4 :thefinger:

no cup holders.

in other news...

i'm getting closer to having a fuel system on the car.i machined up a couple of fittings to weld into the tank for the sending unit and the fuel outlet.the sending unit is the stock gt6 piece,a marine fuel pickup will be used.
the front panel was left off the tank when it was made to give access to weld these pieces,as well as some baffleing before sealing it up.

gt6004-60.jpg

with them in you can see why i put the recessed section in the tank top.in the 'empty' position the sender float is a little above the bottom of the tank, but there is so little fuel left in this spot it's not an issue.
the fuel filler neck will be the final piece to weld in.

good work dude

another area that's been causing me headaches is the upper firewall.

gt6002-88.jpg

as you can see,it's past it's due date.

so i was sitting there looking at it and thinking things through, going over how best to attach an aluminum panel to the cowl,or whether i should just go with steel to replace it,when it hit me.

i want the body to be easilly removeable(remember that from about 200 pages ago?)and having to disconnect heater hoses and such doesn't count under 'easilly'.
the upper firewall would have to be a part of the chassis, and stay with it when the body shell was pulled...leaving the heater installed and unmolested.

gt6001-98.jpg

so i made a template and sheared a chunk of aluminum.

gt6002-89.jpg

did some drilling and bending...

gt6003-86.jpg

and welded on end caps and a top flange.i still need to make the air inlet box for the heater that goes in the middle.i'm liking how this is going to work.

now, this brings up another item that has a few things that i would rather not disconnect...

gt6003-85.jpg

the dashboard.this will be cut away from the cowl,i'll make a new one from aluminum and it will be a part of the chassis as well.
the only things left on the body shell to disconnect will be the taillights, interior light, and wipers.these can all be dealt with useing one electrical connector.

easy enough.

One step closer to a funny car....

imagine the looks you'd get driving around with the body off.

I'd light up the ol' corn cob pipe and head down to the fishin' hole with the body off.

Pretty damn cool Gwaii. I'm going to agree with you, the build is cooler than the finished product will be.

it always is.i guess that's why we do it,there's no other no other explanation for doing this much work...it would make more sense to just buy a finished project from someone else.

The finished project is never as much fun as the build. Someone on another site said it best - "If my truck was finished it wouldn't be mine anymore!"

that's a good way to put it for sure:icon_thumby:
